Nicole + Jack | Mommy and Me Session | The Meadows Frozen Custard | Colonial Williamsburg | Hampton Roads Lifestyle Photographer

I’m so excited to share this fun session of Nicole and Jack. Nicole reached out to me and said she wanted to a have a session with just her and her son, Jack. I asked her to talk about Jack before our session and I was told he was sweet and kind, loved ice cream and they love hanging out together. To make the session about their bond and the things they enjoy together, we began their session at The Meadows Frozen Custard in Williamsburg. Nicole shared how much Jack enjoys paying for the ice cream when they go out and those were the small but honest moments she wanted documented. I can’t tell you enough how much of an actual sweetheart Jack is and was during the entire session. They ate ice cream, laughed and snuggled on the front steps of the ice cream shop. When we got to our second location in Colonial Williamsburg, Jack noticed a park and really wanted to play so we let him lead the way. The great thing about a session that is a mix of documentary is that the children guide. This is so helpful in making it an enjoyable experience for them which will also make it stress-free for you. Let them run, let them play, i’m here to capture the honest love and personality of your family.

As the sun began to set, outfits were changed and we entered Colonial Williamsburg for the second half of the session. I loved meeting and getting to know Nicole and Jack. Their bond is strong and love is sweet. Capturing memories was so important to Nicole and that we did.

Art Museum Wedding | Mr. + Mrs. Dorswitt | Virginia MOCA | Virginia Beach, Va.

Susan and Kenneth had 25 of their closest family and friends gather at MOCA to celebrate them getting married.  Susan wanted her day documented in a way that captured love and family most.  They had their ceremony at the art museum and following it was a small gathering at their residence. The ceremony was officiated by Susan's brother in a simple, sweet and untraditional way.

Virginia MOCA was chosen as their place for ceremony because of their love for art and music.  The museum was simple yet so beautiful. After the ceremony, Kenneth, Susan and I strolled around the exhibits for pictures and we couldn't help but stop and admire every painting. I myself am a fan of modern-contemporary art and often enjoy viewing art with my husband so this was just a perfect day!

Trip to the Virginia Zoo | Norfolk, Virginia | Mason

The weather has been a hot mess this past month. We have found ourselves spending more days indoor and I can't lie... it's been making us a little cray!  I was invited by a couple other moms to go to the zoo and we couldn't turn it down!  The weather was amazing! It was the perfect balance of overcast(my favorite) with sunny moments. We started out at the barnyard where we saw cattle, sheep, sleeping pigs and more.  We traveled through Africa, Asia and Australia ending our trip with a perfect, calm train ride.  We had a great time, ate popcorn and pretzels and explored!

The Mill at Fine Creek | Powhatan, Va. | Rehearsal Dinner

Rehearsal dinners are a time before the wedding where the wedding party gathers together after rehearsing for the big day.  It's a time of excitement and nerves.  It's a time for drinks, good food and laughs.

Lindsay and Bernie hosted an intimate dinner for their wedding party. They had italian food catered from Maggianos and wine.  Everyone ate, drank and laughed. It was the perfect way to calm the nerves before they said "I do".

My Fellas | Yorktown Beach

After having my boys away for three days, I wanted our reunion from their summer trip to NYC to be somewhere I knew we could all enjoy- the beach!  A sunset on the beach seemed like the only way I wanted to spend my evening with my fellas.  I rushed home to hug my babies tight and got changed in seconds.  We stopped on the way to the beach, picked up some sandwiches and we were en route to Yorktown beach.  When we got there of course the boys suddenly had no interest in eating.  So Tom and I sat on a blanket and ate while we watched our boys play freely to the sound of Vance Joy in the background.  The weather was perfect.  A little chilly but perfect to me.   I had everything I needed right in front of me.

Jayce(7) grabbed his sea shell bucket and went off with a mission to fill his bucket.  Mason(3) stripped down got into his swim suit and went RUNNING for the sea.  I just sat back smiling, feeling love and inspiration.  Inspiration to get out, explore, get my feet dirty and feel alive.
