Sunset Anniversary Beach Session | Anne + Johnny | Virginia Beach Oceanfront | Virginia Beach Wedding Photographer

Know what I love more than seeing you on your wedding day? Getting the honor to see you time and time after the big day! I photographed Anne and Johnny’s wedding last year at the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club, photographed their family last summer and this past week got to photograph them for their anniversary. EEEE!! It makes me SO SO SO happy to be a part of capturing Anne and Johnny’s milestones.

Before their wedding day, Anne told me presence meant more than portraits to her. On the wedding day instead of blocking off time for couples portraits, Anne and Johnny joined their friends and family for cocktail hour. This anniversary session was the perfect way to photograph them, together, married. Anne wore her wedding gown, made herself a bouquet and Johnny rocked some of his suit. This time they were joined by their newest family member, Carl.

The weather, evening and getting to hang out with this sweet couple was perfection. I’d love to see more anniversary sessions happening. What a sweet way to celebrate together!! Grab the champagne and let’s run on the beach!

Kristina + Josh | Intimate Downtown Richmond Wedding | Hilton Downtown Richmond | Richmond Canal Walk | Wong Gonzalez | Richmond Wedding Photographer

This past winter I photographed Kristina and Josh’s intimate downtown wedding. They blocked off half of their timeline to spend with me, around Richmond making portraits. We went to one of my favorite spots in Richmond, the Canal Walk mural gallery then took portraits on our walk to Wong Gonzalez where their friends and family waited.

Following their short nuptials a TACO BUFFET and Sugar Shack donuts were served. Y'all!!!! It’s like a dream buffet.

I can’t express how much I just love to see couples doing what makes them happy and customizing their day to fit who they are. Kristina and Josh were playful, romantic and truly just down to earth. Their small ceremony, amazing food choices and location were all a reflection of that.

Angela + Jason | Richmond Engagement Session | Richmond Canal Walk

These two are getting married this fall in Norfolk, Virginia and I am SO stoked. After meeting Angela, her and I began discovering that we are pretty much internet twins, soul sisters, you know the same person; same house slippers and all. So, yes, I was so excited to finally meet her and Jason in person. We started the session at the Richmond Canal Walk mural gallery and just adventured together until the sun set.

Shout out to the avocado tent for taking us to the next scene.

All smiles and giggles before we discovered a tragedy under Jason’s shoe.

Being around Angela and Jason, their friendship was undeniable. They loved to joke and their was a level of comfort that made it so easy to want to be their best friend. I wanted to make sure that I captured that in their engagement session

Storytelling Boudoir Photographer | Downtown Richmond | Casey | Sessions for the Soul

Sessions for the soul are sessions dedicated to YOU. It is such an honor to be trusted to tell your story and capture photographs that are emotive, raw and represent you. I had such an amazing time photographing Casey today in their Richmond home. Knowing Casey personally, they’re my sibling, when I see these photos, I see their soul, the places they’ve gone and …I see growth.

"You carry so much love in your heart. Give some to yourself."

Vintage Bridal Session | C&N Mentoring Workshop| DC Wedding Photographer

Last week I drove up to DC to attend the C & N mentoring workshop led by Caitlin Taylor of Coral Dove Photography and Nicole Babcock of Nicole Babcock Photography. GUYSSSS! This was just the fun, creative and unique experience I was needing and craving as an artist. When we showed up to this field, it was raining and the ground was muddy. It didn’t stop our amazing mentors from teaching and it didn’t stop our group from having fun and doing our thing. This is one session of three. THIS IS JESICA AND MY, OH, MY, IS SHE STUNNING!

Return to Innocence | Hampton, Va. | Personal Work

I'm a part of a storytelling photography group that does weekly challenges. This weeks challenge was to gain inspiration from a song and essentially get lost in the song.  While I was editing the other day Return to Innocence by Enigma played and it instantly brought me to a moment of peace and nostalgia. If you've never heard this song from the early 90's, you're missing out. I always loved the song but listening to it now, much older, I have deep appreciation for the lyrics. The idea of returning to your innocence is essentially letting your soul be free. Free to express yourself, free to feel deeply and free to explore and connect with your own self.

"That's not the beginning of the end
That's the return to yourself
The return to innocence.

Love
Devotion
Feeling
Emotion

Don't be afraid to be weak
Don't be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence.

If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself don't hide
Just believe in destiny.

Don't care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance
To return to innocence."

During our session, Dawn and I explored to the sounds of Celtic music, The Cranberries and Enya. We truly got lost in the moment. It almost felt like a dream. As if her and I were in a new world discovering everything for the very first time with much innocence.
